It all started in 1961 when Pierre Verdun, a butcher from Montceau les Mines, a small village located in the heart of Burgundy, a region noted for its gastronomy, and Robert Comte created the first food preparation machine with a blade on the bottom of the pot.

Robot-Coupe's original idea was to create a single machine that could perform a variety of routine tasks for professional chefs (such as chopping, grinding, kneading, and shredding). He patented the invention and hence created the first multi-function food processor in the world. The brand developed quickly and expanded internationally.

A bit envious, his wife asked him if he could make a smaller version of the product for her domestic use. The first compact domestic food processor was created on the 1st March 1971 under the brand name Magimix.

In 1980, the French Groupe Hameur took over the two brands and is still the sole owner of the company today with over 150 employees and an international brand presence, thanks to the network of subsidiaries around the world.

Paul Bocuse was the brand ambassador for the brand and continued to use it at home all his professional life as do so many renowned chefs around the world.

Today, all the majority of the products are still made in France, in the factory of Montceau les Mines, in the heart of the Burgundy region. The accessories (blades, discs, etc) are all made in Sabatier stainless steel and made in Thiers.

Magimix has always boasted an industrial-grade, direct-drive induction motor, the type that automatically adjusts its power to the task at hand. The motor is guaranteed for 30 years. It is no surprise that the slogan for Magimix is ‘built better to last longer’

A succession of inventions occurred. In 1984 the first egg whisk is invented for the food processor. In 1988, the first multi-bowl food processor, allowing several tasks to be carried out in succession. Magimix creates the three different bowl sizes that enable you to prepare multiple food preparations without having to clean them each time. This enabled a huge timesaving and has made the brand even more popular. The company launches three sizes of food processors, for different family sizes- the 3200XL, the 4200XL and the 5200XL.

In 2015, Magimix launched the cooking food processor which enables users to do even more cooking functions whilst still providing the benefits of a full 5200XL food processor.
